Elected officials can do a lot of harm by acting unilaterally.  The attempted Keller ISD Split and the Westlake Data Center are recent examples of that sort of behavior hurting our neighbors.

As Keller ISD faces shifts in our demographic landscape, including projected declines in student populations, we must plan proactively and transparently. Managing these changes effectively is crucial to maintaining the high standards of our district while being responsible stewards of public resources.

My approach to transparent governance includes:

• Community-Led Committees: Continuing to empower groups like the Citizens Bond Advisory Committee and the Long-Range Planning Committee. When parents, neighbors and teachers help chart the course, the outcomes are stronger.

• Proactive Adjustments: Using data-driven planning to navigate enrollment shifts, right-sizing our facilities gracefully to address community needs, and balancing costs for taxpayers without sacrificing educational quality.

• Open Communication: Publishing long-term plans well in advance to give families, neighborhoods, and staff ample time to adjust to any campus or feeder pattern changes.

During times of transition, it is essential that we regularly consult with teachers and our community to understand the impacts of structural changes.  Change is often difficult.  My family will have two kids between grades at Parkwood Hill Intermediate when it closes next summer.  It is a heartbreaking situation, but we trust that this plan came from our neighbors and friends after much deliberation and thought. 

By keeping our decisions deeply focused on students, we can ensure that every child continues to thrive. I will be dedicated to working with my fellow trustees to build consensus and repair community trust, proving that when we face challenges together, our district emerges stronger.
